Tallahassee, Fla. — Statewide help is being sought for Travis Chester after the Florida Department of Law Enforcement activated a Purple Alert for the 45-year-old resident who vanished from the capital city earlier this week.
Family and investigators place his last known sighting around Nature Trail Way near the 1000 block, with Oct. 12 as the day he dropped from view. Chester stands roughly 6 feet 3 inches and weighs about 215 pounds.
FDLE listed him in a pale red-to-yellow dress shirt paired with jeans and noted dreadlocks along one side of his head. A late-model Dodge Ram 1500 from the 2024 model year, tagged 80VCCK in Florida, may be traveling with him.
The alert type is reserved for missing adults whose mental disabilities fall outside Alzheimer disease and related dementia diagnoses, so neighbors across the state can help locate them quickly when hours matter.
People who recognize Chester or the truck should phone Leon County deputies at 850-606-3300. Anyone needing an emergency response can dial 911 instead.
Purple Alerts move identifying details to the public as soon as FDLE clears them, which is why height, weight, clothing and the possible truck plate are listed together. Chester lives in Leon County, and the search is centered on the Nature Trail Way corridor where he was last reported.
Residents driving that stretch or nearby neighborhoods are asked to watch for the truck and for a man matching the description. Do not approach; pass the tip to the Leon County Sheriff’s Office so deputies can check it out.
