TALLAHASSEE, FL – Envision Credit Union has successfully completed its Teacher Lounge Makeover Contest, an initiative aimed at enhancing spaces for educators in North Florida and South Georgia. This contest was initiated earlier in 2025, prior to Teacher Appreciation Week, which will take place from May 5-9. The contest invited schools within Envision’s service areas to apply for a chance to receive an upgraded staff lounge.

The winners of the Teacher Lounge Makeover Contest include five schools: Chattahoochee Elementary School, Cottondale Elementary School, and John G. Riley Elementary School, all located in Florida, along with Jones Wheat Primary School in Georgia and Thomas County Central High School in Georgia. Each winning school was granted the opportunity to enhance their staff lounge based on a customized wish list of desired upgrades.

Envision Credit Union received numerous heartfelt submissions from a variety of schools across five counties, including Leon, Gadsden, Thomas, Decatur, and Jackson. The selection process focused on identifying one winning school from each service area, ultimately highlighting the importance of creating functional and inviting spaces for teachers.

According to Kelli Walter, the Vice President of Community Development at Envision, the initiative was designed to acknowledge the critical role teachers play in shaping the future. Each lounge makeover was tailored to meet the specific needs of the schools, which included new seating, fresh décor, upgraded appliances, organizational solutions, and calming elements to foster a sense of relaxation among staff members.

To assist with the design of the upgraded lounges, Envision collaborated with Florida A&M University (FAMU) School of Architecture & Engineering Technology. FAMU students and faculty worked closely with the credit union to create design plans that ensure each lounge meets the unique demands of both relaxation and efficient space use. This collaboration provided students with a valuable opportunity to engage in a community service project that made a significant impact on local educational environments.

Andrew Chin, the Dean of FAMU, emphasized that the partnership allowed students to contribute positively to their community. The teacher lounges serve not only as a place for staff to unwind but also as a welcoming environment conducive to collaboration and productivity.

Envision Credit Union has a long-standing history of supporting educational initiatives, having been founded by educators in 1954. The institution is committed to giving back to teachers and enhancing the educational experience for both staff and students. The recent lounge makeovers are part of its ongoing efforts to reach out to educators, showing appreciation for their hard work and dedication.

Photos and videos showcasing the lounge makeovers can be found on the Envision Credit Union website, illustrating the transformations that have taken place. This initiative not only revitalizes the physical spaces where teachers spend a significant amount of their time but also reinforces the acknowledgment of their invaluable contributions to society.
