Tallahassee, Florida – The Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra (TSO) is nearing the conclusion of its search for a new Music Director and Conductor, with Yaniv Dinur as the final candidate. Dinur is set to lead the orchestra’s season finale concert titled “Ravishing Romanticism” on Saturday, May 3, at Ruby Diamond Concert Hall.

The search for the new music director attracted nearly 160 applications from across the country. A Search Committee meticulously narrowed this number down to five finalists, each of whom will conduct a concert during the 2024-25 season. The chosen candidates selected renowned soloists and crafted unique concert programs aimed at demonstrating the depth of their artistry and their connection to the TSO musicians and the community.

During Dinur’s performance, the celebrated pianist Alexander Korsantia will join him, providing an exceptional platform for showcasing the talents of both the soloist and the orchestra. The concert’s first half will include Rachmaninoff’s First Piano Concerto alongside a piece by Lili Boulanger. The second half will feature Tchaikovsky’s Fourth Symphony, a composition that reflects the composer’s emotional struggles against fate.

Dinur aims to foster an interactive approach to his conducting style, emphasizing the importance of listening, reacting, leading, and collaborating with the musicians. His goal is to create an inviting atmosphere that allows the orchestra members to perform at their best, aiming to engage deeply with the music and the audience.

The community is encouraged to participate in several associated events leading up to the concert, including:

  • Lunch with the Maestro at the Governors Club, where attendees can engage with Dinur and discuss his vision for the orchestra.
  • A free Open Rehearsal on May 3 at 10 a.m. at Ruby Diamond Concert Hall, providing insight into the rehearsal process.
  • The main concert on May 3, starting at 7:30 p.m., which is expected to draw significant interest from local and regional attendees.

The concert will take place at Ruby Diamond Concert Hall, located at 222 S Copeland St. Tickets are available for purchase ranging from $35 to $64, and can be secured through the TSO’s official website. Interested community members can reach out to TSO directly at 850-224-0461 or via email at info@tallahasseesymphony.org for additional inquiries.

For those who wish to learn more about the events surrounding the TSO Music Director and Conductor finalists, detailed information is accessible on the organization’s website. Following the concert, a review by Tallahassee-based composer David Lipten will appear in the local newspaper, providing further insights into Dinur’s performance and the overall concert experience.
