Sponsor Our ArticlesTallahassee is experiencing a decline in single-family home construction permits, with a notable 9.2% drop in January 2025 compared to the previous year. Only 59 permits were issued, down from 65 a year earlier, reflecting a total value decrease of 17.8%. Despite this slowdown, the city is buzzing with new development proposals, including mixed-use projects, community-focused redevelopment, and expansions of existing facilities. The future remains bright as Tallahassee continues to adapt and evolve amidst these changes.
Ah, Tallahassee! A city full of vibrant neighborhoods and beautiful parks. But lately, there’s been a bit of a *slowdown* when it comes to single-family home construction. In January 2025, the number of new construction permits issued took a noticeable *plunge*, dropping by 9.2% compared to the previous year.
Last month, only 59 construction permits were issued for single-family homes. That’s six less than the 65 permits approved in January 2024. And the total value of these permits is in the limelight too, standing at $15.2 million for January 2025. Unfortunately, that’s down 17.8% from the impressive $18.5 million in January 2024. Ouch!
If we zoom out a little and look at the bigger picture, things don’t look too rosy either. Over the three-month span from November 2024 to January 2025, there’s a significant 21.4% decrease in the number of permits issued compared to the same timeframe last year. And when it comes to the average monthly permit value, it saw a fall too, dropping by 18.5% down to $11 million.
