TALLAHASSEE, FL – The underground electronic music scene in Tallahassee is set to come alive with Octronica 2, a highly anticipated event occurring on October 17 at Real Cool Time (RCT) Records. This festival will showcase local talent, featuring performances by renowned acts such as Burlap Productions, Rexford Tugwell, Don’t Tell a Soul, PixelDeath64, and Nathan Pugh.

Octronica 2 will take place in the newly established RealCoolTime Underground, located at 1733 N Monroe St. Attendees can enjoy the performances from 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM, with a suggested cover charge of $3, although a pay-what-you-can option will be available to ensure accessibility for all music lovers.

The inaugural Octronica event was originally conceived as a one-off festival; however, its resounding success has paved the way for this follow-up affair. Organizers are excited for the opportunity to showcase even more of the area’s vibrant and diverse music scene.

Among the featured performers is PixelDeath64, which consists of John Brashears and Brandon Hanks, who have been creating music together for approximately a year and a half. They released their debut EP earlier this year, incorporating influences from Drum and Bass, Jungle, and retro video game soundtracks. Brashears draws inspiration from classical music and jazz, while Hanks cites early rave music and video game scores as significant influences on their artistic expressions.

Another act, Don’t Tell a Soul, features the duo of Artisan P and Buster Wolf, who debuted their DTAS EP in 2023. The presence of these two acts highlights the growing trend of alternative and experimental music in the Tallahassee area.

This event not only promotes upcoming local artists but also serves as a reminder of Tallahassee’s long history as a nurturing ground for punk and experimental music since the late ’80s. Similar local venues, such as The Plant on Gaines Street and the Square Mug Cafe, have previously championed creative spaces for performances, ensuring the survival and growth of a diverse artistic community.

The legacy of Tallahassee’s music scene is rich, with notable past events featuring local bands playing at venues like CA Chapel and the Railroad Square Art Park, where local talent has flourished. As Octronica 2 approaches, it stands as a testament to the continuous evolution of the area’s music and arts culture.
