Surrounded by her loving family at the time of her passing, the loss of Carmena has left an indelible mark on those who knew and loved her.

A Proud Graduate

Carmena was a proud member of the Lake Worth High School Class of 1977. During her time at Lake Worth High, she demonstrated an unwavering commitment to her studies and her community. After her high school graduation, she went on to earn a Bachelor of Social Work degree from Florida A&M University, further solidifying her dedication to helping those in need.

A Life of Service

After her education, Carmena’s journey took a significant turn as she was ordained as a minister, eventually founding the Anointed Temple in Christ Church. Her ministry was not just about preaching; it was deeply rooted in community service, mission work, and the tireless effort to spread God’s love to those around her. She truly embodied the spirit of giving and was a beacon of hope for many.

Carmena’s dedication to service didn’t end there. She also had a fulfilling career at the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, where she retired after many years of dedicated work. Family and Legacy

Carmena’s family was a significant part of her life. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charlie Jenkins, Jr., and her son, Willie Ree Pitts, III. Despite these profound losses, Carmena remained a wonderful mother, surviving by her children: Marthea Pitts, Marcus Pitts (with Michelle), and stepson Ellis Jenkins. She was also a loving grandmother to her granddaughters: Aryaná Richardson, Jasmine Pitts, Leah Pitts, and Kaylin Pitts, who held a special place in her heart.

Among those who mourn her loss are her mother, Dr. Martha Meeks Light, and several siblings along with a host of relatives and dear friends. Her impact on the lives she touched will not be forgotten.

Remembering Carmena

A celebration of Carmena’s life will take place during a funeral service at 11 AM on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at Tabernacle M B Church in Tallahassee. Following the service, she will be laid to rest at Oakland Cemetery, also in Tallahassee, where her spirit will forever remain a part of the community she served so passionately.

Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during a visitation scheduled for Friday, January 17, 2025, from 5 PM to 7 PM at The Richardson Group Funerals & Cremations in Tallahassee. This will be an opportunity for everyone who loved and admired Carmena to come together, share stories, and celebrate the remarkable life she led.

Though Carmena has left this world, her spirit, kindness, and unwavering dedication to service and faith will continue to inspire those who had the honor of knowing her. The Lake Worth community will miss her dearly, but the love she shared will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
