Jacksonville, Florida – Jacksonville native Clay Magyar has announced his verbal commitment to join the Florida State University men’s swimming program, beginning in the fall of 2026. This decision marks a significant step in Magyar’s athletic career as he aims to compete at the collegiate level.

Magyar, who currently trains with the Bolles School Sharks, expressed gratitude towards God, his family, coaches, and teammates for their unwavering support throughout his journey. His commitment to Florida State is part of a highly competitive recruiting class, which already includes fellow recruit Anthony Pineiro.

Recently, Magyar showcased his talents at the Summer Junior National Championships, where he set three long-course career best times. His notable performances include a time of 4:00.21 in the 400 freestyle, finishing in 24th place, and achieving a time of 8:17.77 in the 800 freestyle, placing 29th. Additionally, he secured a time of 15:54.83 in the 1500 freestyle, landing in 23rd place, and achieved a time of 1:55.64 in the 200 freestyle, finishing in 88th place.

Magyar’s success extends beyond national competitions. At the Florida High School 1A State Championships, he earned a top-five finish in the 500 freestyle, securing 4th place with a time of 4:31.47. He further demonstrated his prowess at the Florida Senior Championships in March, where he achieved five all-time best times. His performances included a gold medal in the 1650 freestyle with a time of 15:18.95, along with third-place finishes in the 500 freestyle (4:25.27) and the 1000 freestyle (9:07.62). If he competed in the most recent ACC Championships, his rankings would be 57th in the 200 freestyle, 38th in the 500 freestyle, and 16th in the 1650 freestyle, highlighting his potential to contribute to the team.
