Tallahassee – The 20th Anniversary Best & Brightest Awards Ceremony took place on May 14th at the Ruby Diamond Concert Hall, celebrating the accomplishments of local high school seniors. Hosted by the World Class Schools of Leon County and part of the Greater Tallahassee Chamber of Commerce, the event recognized students for their leadership skills, academic excellence, and community service involvement.
A total of 139 seniors from various public and private high schools were honored as finalists across 15 categories. Each category winner received a $1,500 scholarship along with a trophy, while runners-up and honorable mentions received scholarships of $750 and $500, respectively, and trophies. Additionally, all other finalists were awarded $100 scholarships as recognition for their accomplishments.
The ceremony also included the Best & Brightest Eighth Grade Essay contest, which honored 47 students based on their essays focused on community service. Top winners received scholarships ranging from $100 to $500, and all essay participants were given certificates.
Ron Sachs, the founder of the awards, was honored with the Key to the City of Tallahassee during the event. Moreover, Mayor John Dailey proclaimed May 14, 2025, as “Best & Brightest Day” in Tallahassee, highlighting the significance of the event in the community.
Since its inception in 2006, the Best & Brightest program has awarded nearly $1.1 million in scholarships, focusing not only on academic achievement but also on community service.
