TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Florida State wide receiver Duce Robinson, a familiar face in Tallahassee classrooms and charity events, is in the running for two national college football awards that weigh far more than catches, after landing on the finalist list for the William V. Campbell Trophy and the semifinalist list for the Witten Collegiate Man of the Year Award this week.
The Campbell Trophy is the top scholar-athlete prize in the sport. As a finalist, Robinson joins the National Football Foundation’s National Scholar-Athlete Class, which comes with an $18,000 postgraduate scholarship and an invitation to the foundation’s awards dinner in Las Vegas on Dec. 8, where one member of the class takes home the trophy and a $25,000 scholarship. He is the only ACC player in the class and the ninth Seminole ever chosen, the first since 2010.
The Witten award goes to a top-division player whose leadership, courage and character stand out on and off the field. Robinson is one of 20 semifinalists, and the ACC placed seven players on that list, more than any other league. Three finalists will be named Dec. 15.
Robinson, a Phoenix native, finished his Florida State degree in interdisciplinary social science this summer with a 3.90 grade point average, graduating magna cum laude. Away from football he raised more than $10,000 for Special Olympics Florida with a charity pickleball tournament, coached kids in a flag football program and took part in literacy work around Tallahassee.
A two-year team captain, he piled up 56 catches, 1,081 yards and six scores in 2025, the program’s first 1,000-yard season by a receiver since 2019. Through seven games this fall he has 22 receptions, 407 yards and four touchdowns, including five grabs for 113 yards and two scores in last Saturday’s double-overtime loss to Miami. The Seminoles play Clemson on Oct. 31.
