COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Kate Chambon’s first college meet earned her a conference award, as the Colorado College freshman was chosen as the top women’s swimmer in the SCAC for the past week.
Chambon, who is from Grenoble, France, took the 100-yard backstroke in 59.52 against Asbury University at Schlessman Natatorium. The time ranks among the five fastest in the history of the program.
She also delivered quick relay legs, going 27.03 on backstroke in the 200 medley relay, 1:00.75 on butterfly in the 400 medley relay and 26.92 on a 50 butterfly split. She finished with two event wins on the day.
The meet on Saturday was made up only of relays for the swimmers, and Colorado College beat Asbury 138-44. Senior diver Keller Pooley set school and pool records on the 1-meter board with an 11-dive total of 518.93, and Livi Woolery led the women with three wins.
The Tigers are back in the water Oct. 30 and 31 with two dual meets at home against Adams State.
