TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Voters in Tallahassee and the rest of Leon County can start casting ballots Monday, Oct. 19, as early voting for the November general election opens at ten locations and continues through Sunday, Nov. 1, Supervisor of Elections Mark S. Earley said.

Earley urged Florida A&M, Florida State and Tallahassee State College students to go early so they are not guessing their Election Day precinct. Any Leon County voter may use any site during the window, no matter where they live in the county.

Hours differ by building. The courthouse on South Monroe Street runs 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. The elections center on Apalachee Parkway opens at 8:30 a.m. and closes at 6. Library and campus stops, including FAMU Efferson Student Union and the FSU Student Union, generally stay open from 10 in the morning until 6 in the evening.

Other stops include northeast and southside branch libraries plus community centers in Fort Braden, Lake Jackson and Woodville.

Mail ballots already completed can be dropped at those sites during voting hours at a staffed secure intake box. To count, a mail ballot must reach elections staff by 7 p.m. when polls close Tuesday, Nov. 3.

The Nov. 3 ballot in Leon County includes county commission races, Tallahassee City Commission seats including the mayor contest, and State House District 9. Site lists and hours are also summarized in local voter guides circulating ahead of the first early-voting day.

Students and downtown workers who cannot wait in long Election Day lines have the full two-week window to finish voting at whichever of the ten spots fits their schedule.
